Dear BVMP Parents!
Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year! We are so excited to be able to continue to give the gift of music to your child for another year.
BVMP is dedicated to teaching music to the children of Key West but musical fluency is not achieved with one half hour of music a week. The tools that we provide your child with during their lesson need to be practiced at home in order to further their music education. This year, we will be rating your student on preparedness, including time practiced during the week, and if they bring all materials needed to their lesson. If your child continually shows up unprepared and does not practice they will lose their lesson time to another child. Please be sure to read the Student’s Obligation and Parent’s Obligation thoroughly before signing the enrollment form and make sure you are willing to adhere to these terms.
Our partnership with Berklee School of Music has given us many tools to enhance your child’s musical education, and we want each student to take full advantage of their PULSE music education portal. Please check out the website at
http://www.berkleepulse.com and if your child does not already have an account let me know and I will set them up with one. There are great resources on there—practice tips, games, videos and much more!
Our website is also a great resource for practice tips, music education websites and upcoming BVMP events. Please check out our website at
http://www.bvmpkw.org and “become a fan” of the Bahama Village Music Program on Facebook! Our website and Facebook page are updated with upcoming events, photos and videos regularly.
We are also planning several fundraisers for the upcoming year and volunteering to help out is a great way to fulfill your parent obligation. Please check out the list of fundraisers in our upcoming events section. We are asking
every parent to step up and help us keep our program running!
Thanks for being a part of such a wonderful program. This is going to be a great year full of joyful noise!
Thanks!
